Today’s WagJag offers an after-school special that the kids will want to try: for $29, you can get four pony-riding lessons, four music lessons, or two lessons of each at Skyline Farm. Each lesson is a half-hour and available for new students seven and up.
At the well-maintained Skyline Farm facility, lessons are fun, informative and above all, safe. The barn lies within easy commuting distance just west of Ottawa, where Kerry Sargent, your Equine Canada-certified instructor, will teach the basics of riding in either English or Western style. Students seven and older develop knowledge of stable management, horse equipment, care and training, and those who choose to continue lessons more regularly can take part in seasonal farm activities. Riding is a choice method of learning self-respect and confidence through hard work and training, and teaches aspiring young equestrians to respect others and their horse/pony partners.
WagJaggers not interested in ponying up can opt to learn a musical instrument instead in the farm’s warm music studio. Kerry is also a recent grad from the University of Ottawa’s School of Music and has the capacity to teach piano, guitar, clarinet or recorder to beginner musicians. This voucher allows you to try the best of both worlds with two riding and two music lessons, if you so desire.
