Executive Chef Mohamed Yusuf has to live up to a long reputation. He leads the kitchen at Blue Cactus Bar & Grill, which has served AAA steak and fresh seafood in Byward Market for more than 20 years. Luckily, one look at Yusuf’s dinner menu reveals he’s up to the task. For appetizers, the chef and his team smoke baby back ribs in-house, while entrees blend flavors from land and sea. Shrimp, scallops, and clams mix into a seafood linguine, and signature Blue Cactus tacos explore flavors of curry chicken, mixed veggies, and szechwan beef.

Of course, diners don’t see the tireless effort that goes into their grilled shrimp pizza, nor are they aware of the arctic expeditions that bring back each day’s special flavor of homemade gelato. They’re too busy chatting amid the dining room’s stone columns or watching sports at the bar.
