The folks at Le Domaine de L’Ange-Gardien are bound and determined to have a good time, no matter how cold the weather gets. In fact, they celebrate winter’s grasp with activities that can only be enjoyed during the season, including snow tubing and horse-drawn sleigh rides. But the real star at Le Domaine de L’Ange-Gardien is the quintessentially Canadian treat: maple taffy, which is made by melting maple sap and pouring it over snow.
And the maple sap doesn’t get any fresher, as the staff sources it directly from trees out back, and then transforms it into a variety of maple-based delights in a traditional sugar shack. Surrounded by antiques and traditional evaporators, the staff creates maple syrup, lollipops, butter, jelly, and caramel, to name a few of their treats. They package them for individual sale and serve them, along with dishes such as crêpes and maple ham, during all-you-can-eat traditional French-Canadian meals, backed by live music.
For guests that decide they’d like to stay awhile, Le Domaine de L’Ange-Gardien also hosts campgrounds with entertainment options that range from an artificial swimming lake to basketball courts to hiking trails. And with showers, electricity, and Internet access, visitors are sure to feel at home.
