The culinary artists at Restaurant E18hteen craft a menu that shifts with the changing seasons. Engaging flavour profiles pair with wines poised to please discerning palates while a knowledgable service team caters to guests in the tradition of genuine hospitality. The dining space also showcases dishes that ring true to Canada’s landscape. The black cod is from British Columbia, the rack of lamb from Washington, and the suckling pig belly—served with honey crisp apples—from St. Canut.
With its cuisine boasting a mix of local sensibility and sophistication, Restaurant E18hteen promises a unique dining experience and comfortable, inviting milieu. Named after its address in a Heritage building in the ByWard Market, the dining space continues to write its own history. En Route Magazine named it one of the “Best Restaurants in Canada,” while CNN dubbed it, “The place to go in Ottawa.” Its melodic cuisine also earned it a 2014 CAA Four Diamond Award.
Despite the high-profile accolades, Restaurant E18hteen does take advantage of its hushed, romantic atmosphere. The shadows playing on the stone walls are fed by dim lighting; curtains decorated with curling, baroque leaves portion off the dining space; and monochromatic paintings of mademoiselles draw the eye. Still, the food provides the most colour, topping white tablecloths with bright, butter-poached lobster and pairing it with deep wines from across the globe.
