This is War
One failed military operation in Afghanistan produces four different accounts from the soldiers who lived through it. This is War interweaves these narratives to highlight how perspectives—fueled by individual relationships and sexual desires—affect outcomes and create personal realities. This uncompromising look into the soldier’s psyche was penned by Hannah Moscovitch, the writer of East of Berlin, who the Toronto Star lauded as “perhaps the hottest young playwright in Canada.”
The Burden of Self Awareness
In the world premiere of The Burden of Self Awareness, playwright George F. Walker tells of a man, his fortune, and a near-death experience that inspires him to give it all away. There’s just one catch: his wife. She isn’t too pleased with the thought of living a middle-class lifestyle. So, with a reluctant hit man, a neurotic psychiatrist, and a call girl, she plots to stop him from carrying out his philanthropic agenda.
Great Canadian Theatre Company
Now in its 39th anniversary season, the Great Canadian Theatre Company is recognized as the oldest independent theatre company in Ottawa. The troupe brings the thought-provoking works of up-and-coming Canadian artists to the intimate 262-seat house of the Irving Greenberg Theatre, which is powered by green technology and conduits that drain the peaking emotional energy from their audiences.
