At each client’s home or venue, a registered technician spends 60–90 minutes tightening and loosening more than 200 strings to make melodies sound sweet again. The service includes minor repairs and adjustments to correct the instrument’s action and tone, including the adjustment of the strings with an electronic tuning device or the technician’s ear and a tuning fork—depending on client requests or what works best for the individual instrument. The technician may recommend additional services not included in this Groupon, such as repairs, regulation, or the installation of a Bach-playing boom box, but will not perform them without consent.

The changing of the seasons are harsh on a piano. The shifting heat and humidity subtly warp the wood and piles of falling leaves muffle the strings. To combat nature’s adjustments, Piano Tuners Ottawa travels to homes and venues, returning pianos to playing shape.
