Bikram Yoga Ottawa’s four instructors lead sweaty students of all skill levels through 26 traditional Hatha yoga poses in a heated studio. In the heat, muscles expand for safe, therapeutic stretches, the body pushes toxins out through sweat, and the mind liquefies to better commingle with the universe. Ninety-minute classes are offered all week, starting as early as 10 a.m. and as late as 8 p.m. Class policies respect the yogic principles of open mindedness, centeredness, and punctuality: latecomers won’t be allowed into a class after it has started. New yogis should arrive 15 minutes early and tell their instructor about injuries or special double-jointed conditions. Yoga mats are not included, though students may bring their own, along with two towels and a water bottle (filtered water available at the studio). Students should hydrate well before and after class, as well as avoid eating anything heavy— such as bar food or barbells—2 to 3 hours prior to class,.

All classes are held in the new, expansive downtown studio, a welcoming environ of gleaming hardwood floors, mirrors to assist posing, and lots of natural light. The new changing rooms feature spacious showers with organic shower gels made from free-range botanicals.
